Hi Friends,
I am basking in the final moments of colorful leaves. Spectacular colors have graced the trees as if the leaves sensed that it was their final show. I know it won’t be long until the last leaf detaches from each tree and lands on the ground. The Fall brings such vibrant colors, but I noticed something unexpected and unrelated to falling leaves while driving down a rural road last weekend.
It was a field of cotton ready to be harvested. The brown plants burst forth with white crowns for as far as my eye could see. I pulled over and snapped a picture. The Holy Spirit nudged my heart with a Scripture which has been repeated this week when I tuned in to Asheritah CiuCiu’s Instagram Live Prayer Call. If you’re not listening in on the first Thursday of the month to her guiding Prayers and providing
commentary, you’re missing out, by the way. Her book, “Prayers of Rest” has provided structure to help me know how to pray effectively to God.
The Scripture that God downloaded into my heart this week was Matthew 9:36-38 from the ESV: “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
I have decided after attending the Hope Writers Conference this weekend that I want to be ready to be a laborer for the Lord of the harvest. Being ready means that I will seek to know you, my reader, better by listening to your needs and praying for you. Each of you matters to God and to me. I want you to feel free to chat and engage with me using the new chat feature in the Substack app or you could leave a comment letting me know how I can pray for you.
I appreciate your time and hope you will join me in reading and reflecting on Matthew 9:36 - 38 this week. I plan to share a newsletter for now each week on the weekend.
Keep savoring God’s Word, my friend.
Blessings,
Lisa
